Teeccino – a coffee alternative

Teecchino - a coffee alternative
There are quite a few things that I am utterly obsessed with at the moment.

Argyle sweaters that make me look like a male college professor.  (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)

Guided meditation via my iPhone.

Pumpkins.

Have you tried teecchino before?  Teecchino is an “herbal coffee” that tastes and smells very similar to coffee, but doesn’t have any caffeine.  Teecchino is actually made up of nuts, dates, chicory root, carob, and figs.

I gave up coffee a little over five years ago because the acidity was very hard on my stomach.  However, when fall rolls around, I always miss holding that warm cup with that beautiful coffee aroma.  I just wanted to share it with you in case anyone else was missing coffee like me this week.

At the moment I am in love with teecchino’s vanilla nut flavor and you can find teeccino at most health food stores or online.  I also love using iced teeccino as a “coffee” base in smoothies.  Yum!

Have you tried teecchino before?  What are your favorite ways to enjoy it?

I have been using Teeccino for over a year now, but instead of the bagged version, I use the ground kind and brew it in the coffee pot. I just stumbled on it in the coffee section at Whole Foods. It is a great way to wean yourself off coffee without the dreaded caffeine withdrawal, because you can slowly add more and more Teeccino and less and less ground coffee!

I just discovered your blog, Sonnet, it’s gorgeous!

I like teeccino too, I love the Hazelnut one the most!

Can you tell me a little more about your alarm clock?!? I have been really wanting to invest in one and have not heard of anyone using one.

I’m loving it! The natural light really helps me to wake up when it’s dark out in the mornings (which, in Seattle, is over half the year) and it also has a “sunset” feature that helps you fall asleep easier. For the price I honestly think it’s a wonderful investment!

  5. I’ve never tried Teeccino but I’ve always been curious about it! I use Dandy Blend though which I love. And since I have a ginormous bag of it, I’ll probably stick with that :) Thanks for the review though, I’ll definitely have to try this some day!

  6. Your post excited me because I’m always looking for coffee alternatives that don’t taste like tea. I’ve been disappointed in the past. I picked up a box of the Teeccino French Roast Organic DARK ROAST bags yesterday. Wow! It brewed up nice and strong and was ever so pleasant with some sweetener and soy milk (that’s how I drink my coffee). I’m looking forward to tryout out the Chocolate.

  7. I need to get this for my boyfriend… I’ve been meaning to for ages but I find it so expensive. Also – great to hear that you like your alarm clock, I’ve been curious of those light alarm things. I wake up with a Tibetan chime alarm. It’s quite nice!
